The 25th China (Guzhen) International Lighting Fair Ends in Success

On October 26, 2020, the 25th China (Guzhen) International Lighting Fair (GILF), hosted by Guzhen Lighting Expo Co., Ltd, ended in success. Hot spots and requirements throughout the year were interpreted at the GILF. The fair, with a theme of “Guzhen Lights up the World”  was held on a 1500,000-m2 site and displayed online simultaneously via GILF’s B2B platformDenggle.com.

By its conclusion at 14:00 on October 26, this exhibition had seen a total of 37,817 professional visitors, including 389 overseas visitors presented at the fair despite the pandemic. The “Hosted Buyer Program Go Online” has attracted nearly 40,000 overseas visitors to view through cloud.

2,500 lighting enterprises from 8 venues were gathered

The main venue -Guzhen Convention and Exhibition Center accommodated the whole lighting industry chain including household intelligent lighting, decorative lights, commercial lighting, outdoor lighting, special lamp, machine, lighting auxiliaries and other categories, drawing a total of 845 brands.

The 7 sub-venues (Lihe Lighting Expo Center, Huayi PlazaStar Alliance, Lighting Era Plaza, Besun Plaza, Huayu Plaza, Streetlight City) organized events along with hundreds of brands.

During the fair, face recognition for entry, real-time monitoring of visitor flow, on-site temperature detection and health code tracking and other new technological applications were adopted for buyers to enter.

The mode of intelligence + originality represented the new trend

Original design, smart home, intelligent light poles, linear magnets, new energy lights and education lighting were the general highlights at the fair.

Many smart brands established cross-border alliances with platforms such as Alibaba Cloud, JD Cloud, and Huawei to enter the field of smart home. Some exhibitors applied technologies of smart cities+new infrastructures and 5G for commercial use.

The sales of ultraviolet germicidal lamps have surged due to the pandemic.

At the same time, education lighting, office lighting, health lighting, skincare lamps, beauty lamps, landscape lighting, explosion-proof lights, stage lights, fire emergency systems, waterproof, dustproof floodlights, outdoor solar lights, projection lights, laser lights, ultra-high-speed placement machines and laser cutting equipment were spotted onsite.

Seamless Online and Offline Connections Between Exhibitors and Buyers


To relieve the impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Hosted Buyer Program Go Online was held by the fair to present an exhibition trio: factory show, on-site booth, and EZBUY of B2B website-Denggle.com.

The Hosted Buyer Program Go Online attracted nearly 40,000 overseas followers.

Forum Offers Useful Insights and Suggestions for the Industry

During the fair, forums and seminars were held continuously, including “Intelligent Light Pole Industry Development Forum”, “2020 Lighting Industry Product Category Salon ‘Smart Home, Smart Future’”, the “Intelligent Agricultural Lighting Innovation Forum”, and online lectures on “Research and Prospects of Horticulture Lighting Strategies”, “Smart Transportation and Smart Light Pole”, “5G+ Era and Smart City New Life” etc.

Depending on the origin of lighting products and facilitating high-quality development of the industry, the 25th GILF came to an end successfully. This includes  Infosys Topaz, an AI-first offering using generative AI technologies, and Infosys Cobalt, a cloud-powered solution that supports enterprises in building robust and scalable digital architectures. The education and research collaboration with University of Cambridge to establish a joint AI Lab will draw from Infosys’ industry expertise and practical application of AI as well as Cambridge University’s world-class education and research capabilities to help address real-world challenges. The London Living Labs and the AI Lab are housed within Infosys’ new state-of-the-art premises spread over 25,000 sq. ft. with a capacity for 200 employees. Research Project Decodes Elephant Sounds
Helping humans better understand how elephants communicate could improve the animals’ protection. A joint research project of the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences and the Austrian Academy of Sciences uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyse the animals’ sounds and interpret their meaning.
ST. PÖLTEN, Austria, Oct. 23, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Elephants are social beings who live in varying habitats of different sizes. The animals’ calls are an important means of communication with their conspecifics. Research shows that elephants convey important information with their calls. However, in the past, the large variety of calls has made it hard for researchers to decode the animals’ communication patterns.

So far, there is only very little research into elephant communications. “The animals use a broad range of sounds such as the well-known trumpet. The most frequently used sound type is the low-frequency rumble which has a basic frequency that reaches infrasound”, says Angela Stöger, project lead and head of the field of mammal communication at the Austrian Academy of Science.
Using AI to Understand Elephants
“In our project, we seek to employ artificial intelligence in detecting acoustic signatures in elephant communication that give us valuable insights into specific behaviour. In this process, we adopt a completely novel approach to bioacoustics: based on hypotheses about the meaning of sounds that are produced through AI-based data analyses, we synthesize elephant calls designed to carry different meanings for the animals. We play these sounds in playback experiments to elephants in the wild. By monitoring the elephants’ reactions, we can put our hypotheses to a test. If this approach proves to be successful, we could open up entirely new possibilities for data-driven analyses of animal communication”, says Matthias Zeppelzauer, head of the research group Media Computing at the St. Pölten UAS’ Institute for CreativeMedia/Technologies.
The project examines the communication of African Savanna elephants by using the largest existing databases on elephant sounds ever to be recorded in the wild. It is the first time that AI is used to systematically analyse these data. This allows for an in-depth analysis which could not be achieved manually.
Understanding Animal Behaviour 
Research on animal sounds provides valuable insights into the perception and the behaviour of animals and the population dynamics. This helps to assess biological diversity. The application of AI-based methods to analyse animal communication is currently becoming ever more popular. To learn from the complex data, researchers use deep learning methods, in other words, complex neural networks. So far, these methods were mainly implemented to analyse the communication of sperm whales and zebra finches.
“We do not only use AI to identify an animal’s age, sex, and social status and a group’s dialect, we also use AI to determine new patterns in acoustic data and encode information. This will help us understand how elephants communicate meaning and content”, says Zeppelzauer.
